JD Vance Doubts Pentagon Is Giving Trump Full War Picture

Amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, reports of internal disagreements within the Trump administration have emerged. According to a report, Vice President JD Vance suspects the Pentagon is not giving President Donald Trump accurate ground-level information about the war.

Is the Pentagon hiding war realities?

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine have strongly praised US military performance in the eight-week conflict. They insist America has destroyed Iran’s air force, navy, and defense infrastructure, and that US weapons stockpiles remain large. However, according to a report by The Atlantic, Vance has repeatedly questioned these claims in closed-door meetings.

Is Trump being given a false picture of the war?

The report says Vance believes the version of the war being presented to Trump may be far from the truth. He is particularly worried about a sharp decline in US missile stockpiles. Citing senior administration officials, the report says Vance has raised concerns about the availability of missile systems. He believes that if use continues at this rate in the Iran war, America will lack adequate resources in any future conflict with China, North Korea, or Russia.

It is also claimed that Vance was opposed to ‘Operation Epic Fury’ from the very beginning. He had warned it would cause damage. Notably, Vance himself had led the first round of peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, which failed. A second round of talks was also called off this week. What stands out is that Vance is publicly praising Hegseth, but according to the report, he is privately exposing flaws in the strategic planning. Some officials say Hegseth tells President Trump only what he wants to hear.
